Long-distance triathlon glossary·Strides

Strides : short form accelerations

Run

Short 20-30 second accelerations at a brisk pace, added at the end of easy runs to maintain running form.

Strides are 80-100 m or 20-30 s accelerations at 85-90% vVO2max, with 60-90 s walk recovery. Their role is to stimulate the neuromuscular system, maintain running mechanics, and lower perceived effort at fast paces. They do not fatigue (negligible TSS) but noticeably improve coordination at high cadence. Recommended frequency: 4-6 strides twice a week.

In TriPaced:

In TriPaced, strides sometimes appear as an option at the end of easy run sessions (label 'Strides × 4-6'). They are not counted toward session TSS but are logged in the session notes for tracking.
