Long-distance triathlon glossary·Overload

Overload : intentional load spike then recovery

Load

Deliberately spike load for 1-3 weeks to bounce higher after recovery.

Adaptation principle: a stimulus beyond habit + sufficient rest = supercompensation (fitness goes up). Too much overload without the off-load = overtraining (fitness drops, chronic fatigue). The classic ratio is 3 progressive weeks then 1 recovery week (3:1).

In TriPaced:

In TriPaced, overload is planned into BUILD and PEAK blocks; the RECOVERY week that follows is not optional. If you systematically skip the off-load week, the engine sees it in the ATL curve and warns you in post-session analysis.
