Long-distance triathlon glossary·Meso

Meso-cycle : training block of 3 to 6 weeks

Load

A training block of 3 to 6 weeks focused on a specific physical adaptation.

The meso-cycle sits between the week (micro-cycle) and the full season (macro-cycle). Each meso-cycle targets a specific adaptation: building aerobic base, developing threshold, VO2max work, or pre-competition taper. Classic long-distance triathlon progression: Base → Build → Peak → Taper, each phase forming a 3-6 week meso-cycle.

In TriPaced:

In TriPaced, your plan is automatically structured into meso-cycles based on your race A date and current fitness. Volume/intensity ratios and deload weeks are scheduled to follow the Base → Build → Peak → Taper progression.
