Sprint triathlon : Short format (750 m / 20 km / 5 km)
IntensityThe shortest competitive triathlon format: 750 m swim, 20 km bike, 5 km run. Ideal for beginners or as a prep race.
Sprint triathlon typically lasts 50-75 min for an intermediate athlete. Intensity is high across all 3 segments: swim near anaerobic pace, bike between Z4-Z5, run at 5-10 km race pace. It is technically demanding (fast transitions, wave start, bike pack corners) but accessible in terms of training volume (6-8 h/week is enough to finish). Clubs and Try-a-Tri events often use a super-sprint (375 m / 10 km / 2.5 km) for first-timers.
In TriPaced:
In TriPaced, if your Race A is a sprint triathlon, the training plan adapts the preparation cycles (shorter base, more high-intensity sessions) and the race plan targets sprint-specific paces for each segment.
