Race simulation : Training in race conditions
IntensityLong session done at race pace and intensity, usually with the same race-day nutrition plan, to test the full strategy.
A race simulation is the most powerful tool to validate your race strategy 4-6 weeks before the event. For a half or full ironman, it can be partial (2/3 of distance) or full. The goal is not peak performance but a full dress rehearsal: nutrition every X minutes as planned, target paces per segment, heat management, gear testing (shoes, wetsuit, bike kit). GI issues, overheating, or blisters found in simulation can be fixed before race day.
In TriPaced:
In TriPaced, 'race simulation' sessions appear in peak phase as key sessions. They use the same pace calculations as your official race plan. After the simulation, the planner analyses the Strava effort to confirm you held target pace and adjusts the race-day goal if needed.
